Julia Alma-Jane Penney

Julia Alma-Jane Penney, age 86, a resident of Cleveland for the past 53 years and former resident of Fort Smith, AR, passed away, Sunday at her home. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Cleveland Garden Club and Beta Sigma Phi. Mrs. Penney was an excellent bowler and won several awards, loved to play golf, arrange flowers and enjoyed reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shaheen Shoffey and Vidan Jamell Shoffey; daughter, Emily Penney Blake and husband, Robert Blake.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. J.E. Penney, Jr. of Cleveland; daughter, Julie Penney Boyd of Cleveland; grandson, Marshall Boyd of Cleveland; brother, James Shoffey of Fort Smith, AR; sisters, Mezema Simpson of CA and Emily Shoffey of Fort Smith, AR and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Robert G. Seaton officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.

Her family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
