Maude Olena Oliver, 97, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday August 13, 2008 in a local hospital. She was the oldest member of Eastside Church of Christ where she became a Christian in 1926.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Columbus Oliver; son, Carl Wayne Oliver; parents, Rhoten and Emma Richmond Eslinger; sisters: Annie Maroon, Ruby Wilhoit, Lora Godfrey, Mattie Cooper, Leatha Eslinger and Gertrude Suits; brothers: Bill Eslinger, Richmond Eslinger and Andy Eslinger.
She is survived by her son, Charles Oliver and wife, Gertrude; daughters, Esta Mae Jones and Pauline Oliver all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Daniel and Thelma Jones of Cleveland, Nancy and James Cartwright of Loudon, Judy and Jerry McSpadden of Vonore and Jennifer and Mark Creek of Georgetown; 1 sister, Margaret Collette of Dalton, GA; 6 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 15, 2008 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Ministers Jeff Archey and Bill Maynard officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with James Cartwright, Jerry McSpadden, Kenneth Suits, Bill Casteel, Bill Flowers and Gary Jones serving as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
