Raymond L. McKay, 76, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday November 7, 2007 in a local hospital. Mr. McKay was employed with Bowaters Corporation for 37 years as a pipe fitter. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea. He was a loyal supporter of the Holston United Methodist Home for Children, and was an avid gardener. Mr. McKay was a graduate of Bradley Central High School class of 1948 and was a member of Red Hill United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Paul McKay and Maude Leatherwood McKay and wife, Dorothy Lea Walker McKay.
He is survived by sons; Ray Lee McKay and wife Karen, Timothy Paul McKay and Shawn McKay and wife Krista all of Cleveland, brother; Kenneth McKay of Chattanooga, sister-in-law, Joanne Walker Finnell and husband Herman of Chattanooga, grandchildren; Megan, Lauren, P.J., Rachael, Katherine and Sara McKay, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2007 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Carolyn Brady officiating. Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Chris White, Randy Finnell, Kevin Caylor, Johnny Cartwright, Ray Conner and Alan Dixon serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers serving are Silas Mason, Jim Toomey, Bill Rominger, Clyde Rominger, H.C. Conner and Dean Perkinson. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
