Eleanor Passig McGee

July 31, 1920 — March 8, 2007


Eleanor Passig McGee, died on March 8, 2007 at Skyridge Medical Center, Cleveland, Tennessee. She was born July 31, 1920 in N.Olmsted, Ohio and lived in Cleveland for the past 54 years. She was a BS graduate of Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio in 1942. She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church and the Fealty Sunday School Class. She served as a substitute teacher in Bradley and Cleveland City School systems during the 1960's and 1970's. Volunteering in many areas of the community, she especially enjoyed assisting in the Lions Club Eyesight Program in the schools. She provided leadership in several PTA's in the years surrounding the creation of Cleveland High School and its opening in 1966.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Earl A. McGee whom she married on May 25, 1943. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Theodore O. Passig of N. Olmsted and a sister-in-law, Bertha M. Wack of Canton, Ohio and her parents, Paul O. and Jeannette Baker Passig.

She is survived by her three children: E. Alan McGee and his wife Linda of Milledgeville, Georgia, Marilyn McGee Gray and her husband James C. of Cookeville, Tennessee and Robert P. McGee of Chattanooga; three grandchildren: Matthew McGee of Milledgeville, Georgia, J. Christopher Gray and wife Melinda of Seattle, Washington and Janet Gray Coonce and her husband Daniel Coonce of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Mrs. McGee has one great-granddaughter, Emily Marie Coonce. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Helen Passig of N. Ridgeville, Ohio and Ethel McGee Rohrbach of Greenville, PA and several nieces and nephews. She had special helpers and friends Sandy, Rick, Rebecca, Judy and Summer during her final years.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Fike Funeral Home with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens both in Cleveland, Tennessee. Reverend Andy Ferguson and Reverend Debbie Stokes will be officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2007 from 5-7 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home.
