Hoyt N. Hughes

Hoyt N. Hughes, 77, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, December 14, 2007 at his residence. He was of the Church of God faith. He loved to hunt and fish. He was retired from Prospect Manufacturing Company after thirty years of service.

Mr. Hughes was the son of the late John Hughes and Myrtle Hensley Hughes and was also preceded in death by his brother, J.R. Hughes.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Icie Gates Hughes of Cleveland; five children and spouses: Geneva and Garry Moore, Dewight and Debbie Hughes, Glenda and Junior Wheeler, Gary and Mitzi Hughes, Tim and Jeannie Hughes all of Cleveland; thirteen grandchildren: David Moore, Shannon Bentley, Hoyt Wheeler, April Kelley, Nathan Hughes, Toby Hughes, Jan Hall, Dee Graham, Melissa Wheeler, Stephen Hughes, Maranda Reynolds, Zach Hughes and Micah Hughes; twenty-one great grandchildren; four brothers: Shorty Hughes, Reverend Sammy Hughes, Bill Hughes and Donnie Hughes all of Cleveland; four sisters: Faye Cofer, Barbara Hooker, Kayretta Stokes and Imogene Stokes all of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2007 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Sammy Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Earls Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. His grandsons, Toby Hughes, Nathan Hughes, Zach Hughes, Micah Hughes, Stephen Hughes, David Moore and Hoyt Wheeler will serve as pallbearers.

His family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2007 at the funeral home.
