Samuel Harris

Samuel "Sam" Harris, 75, a resident of Cleveland passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the family residence. Mr. Harris had been a resident of Cleveland for the past 47 years and formerly of Mineral Bluff, Ga. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Mr. Harris was past president of the Bell South Pioneers for 2 years and a former member of Taylor's Ruritan Club. He was employed with South Central Bell for 25 years. He served with the United States Army in Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Taylor Harris and Maybell Nix Harris.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 52 years, Faye Magness Harris of Cleveland; sons, Tom and his wife Shirlee Harris, Tim Harris, Tony and his wife Renee Harris of Cleveland; daughter, Tina Goins and her husband Rodney of Cleveland; grandchildren, Misty Bennett, Bianca Harris, Kelley Harris, Tanner Harris, Timmy Harris, Amanda Harris, Candace Harris, Ashley Harris DeLong and Trent Goins; great grandchild, Shelby Goins; sister, Rethel DeHart and husband Earl of Mineral Bluff, Ga.; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Langford officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery with Military Honors. John Bill Swallows, II., Johnathan Swallows, Brian Overstreet, Eddie Miller, Mark Bates and Scott Satterfield will be serving as pallbearers. Joe King, Jack King, Burt Corbin and Jerry Botts will be serving as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
