Nellie M. Green, 80, of Woodstock, Illinois, died January 12, 2009, at Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.
She was born April 15, 1928, in Dayton, TN, to the late Lena (Tallent) and William Graves. She grew up in Cleveland, attending Bradley County Schools.
She was married for 48 years to R.V. Green, who preceded her in death in 1997. They started their family in Cleveland, later moving to Illinois for many years. Upon R.V.'s retirement, they returned to Cleveland, where they enjoyed the renewing of old friendships. They were affiliated with the Macedonia Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by three sons: Dennis and Michael, and infant Richard; her brother, Jim Graves, and sisters: Bessie Loominhouser, Edith Lemons, and Betty Jo Mazelin.
Survivors include her son, Larry (Rose Anne) Green, and daughters, Sandra (Steve) Malinowski and Deborah (Robert) Hensley, all of Illinois. Also surviving are daughters-in-law, Cheryl Green and Michele Green; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Sewell of Cleveland, Elsie Marshall of Knoxville, and Dorothy Dowell of Dresden, TN; and sisters-in-law, Lora Mikel and Juanita Buckner, both of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 16, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Langford officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
Her family will receive friends from 6 -8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
