William "Dation" Fields
William "Dation" Fields, 86, a resident of Cleveland passed away Sunday November 16, 2008 at the family residence. He was of the Christian faith. Mr. Fields was an outdoorsman and fisherman. He was employed for 43 years with the firm, Dixie, Magic Chef and Maytag Corporation. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in the Marshall Islands and the Philippines and received a Purple Heart commendation.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lee Goins Fields; parents, Oscar Dow Fields and Robbie Mae Gentry Fields; granddaughter, Mary C. Taylor; grandson, Danny Lynn Fields; a great granddaughter and 3 sisters.
He is survived by 2 sons: Dennis Fields, Terry Fields and wife, Debbie of Cleveland; 2 daughters: Mary Taylor and husband, Charles of Cleveland and Brenda Cain and husband, Jerry of Charleston; 8 grandchildren: Rebecca Taylor, Tina Schabell, Darlene Smith, Kim Fields, Robbie Fields, Patty Smith, David Goode and Daniel Goode and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Luther Eslinger officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Tim Smith, Anthony Schabell, Jason White, David Goode, Josh Smith and Robbie Fields serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
