Carrie Marie McGee Cross, 85, a resident of Decatur, passed away, Sunday, May 13, 2007. She was a member of South Cleveland Methodist Church. Mrs. Cross was formerly employed as a seamstress with American Uniform for 26 years. Her favorite hobby was sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband, D.R. Cross; parents, Elbert S. McGee and Florence Roane McGee; brother, Roy McGee; sisters: Ruby Waller and Willie Bill' Rutledge.
She is survived by her sons: Dan Cross and wife, Hanne Oldenknott Cross of Decatur, Bill Cross and wife, Marie, of Heflin, AL; sister, Blanch Harrison of Cleveland; grandchildren: Dewayne, Sonya and Bill Cross, Kim Folsom, Teresa Iler, Katrina True and many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Lynn Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Grandson and great grandson will serve as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
