Deola Bingham Clayton

July 30, 1912 — November 22, 2006

Deola Bingham Clayton, age 94, a resident of Indianapolis, IN, passed away Wednesday, November 22, in an Indiana nursing home. She was born July 30, 1912 in Cleveland, TN to the late Charles and Mary Bingham. She was the wife of the late William Clifford Clayton for fifty-two years. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Blanche B. Cross, Jackie B. Hall and Lelia Winstead; brothers: Sullivan Bingham and Alvin Bingham. Mrs. Clayton was devoted to her faith, family and friends; a beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt. She was committed to and active in many churches throughout her life. She extended her love and care to all those around her; reaching out and helping those who were sick or hurting. Mrs. Clayton loved gardening and left every yard more beautiful for her special touch with flowers.

She is survived by one daughter, Debra Charlynn Clayton of Indianapolis, IN; one step son, Donald Taylor Clayton of Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Irene B. Hale of Chattanooga, TN and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Harold Buck officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
