Arthur "Buddy" Boyer, 80, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 in a local hospital.
He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. For forty years he was employed as a supervisor with Buster Brown Apparel and later worked with the Bradley County School System. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the National Racking Horses Association. He loved horses and was well known for his many years of training young people to ride and show horses in this area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Labe Monroe Boyer and Virtle Lee Hunt Boyer and one sister, Anaver Boyer Lawson.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Howard Boyer of Cleveland; daughter, Judy Boyer Wallace of Cleveland; grandson, Scott Wallace; granddaughter, Amy Wallace; three great grandchildren, Colton Wallace, Amber Wallace and Devin Wallace; two nephews, Tim Lawson and Terry Lawson; two great nephews, Shaun Lawson and Justin Lawson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Rick Creswell and John Cain officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hills Cemetery with Timmy Lawson, Terry Lawson, Shaun Lawson, Scott Wallace and Roy Howard serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 12-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
