Mary Beulah Kirkpatrick Bivens
Mary Beulah Kirkpatrick Bivens, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday September 26, 2008 in a local healthcare facility. She celebrated her 90th birthday in June with a party for family and friends. Mrs. Bivens was of the Baptist faith.
She worked at Hardwick Woolen Mills during World War II making uniforms for our soldiers; in later years she was a homemaker. Mrs. Bivens was an avid fan of NASCAR's Jeff Gordon and the Tennessee Volunteers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Lake Bivens; parents, John R. Kirkpatrick and Vida Barker Kirkpatrick; brothers, James Kirkpatrick and John (Buddy) Kirkpatrick; sisters, Melba Samples, Nada Jones, Anna Lou Rogers and Eola Park, Mary was reared in the Oak Grove community and was the last surviving sibling of her family.
Mrs. Bivens is survived by her son, Donald Bernard Bivens and wife Mary Linda of Kennett Square, PA.; grandchildren, Mary Virginia Troutman and husband Robert of Fall River, MA.; Donald Bernard Bivens, Jr. and wife Trina of Coppell, TX.; and John Lake Bivens of Providence, RI.; great grandchildren, Jasper Ellis Troutman, Ethan Donald Bivens and Luke Alan Bivens and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to friends, James and Rusty Wise, Jane Underwood and Janice Rogers, all of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday September 29, 2008 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Rev. Charles McGowan officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services.
There will also be a family memorial service in Massachusetts in November.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
