Woodrow J. "Woody" Ash, 77, a resident of Bradley County, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 23, 2007. He was a member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Ash was a veteran of U.S. Navy where he served in World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post # 81. He was a retired electrician of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 175 in Chattanooga. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. His favorite sports were hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob M. Ash and Arvie Ingram Ash; son, Chuck Ash; brothers: Gordon Ash, Ogle J. Ash, Curtis Ash; sisters: Ilean Morrow, Reatha Widner, Cleo Brown and Ruth Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Whaley Ash of Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law; Sharon and Robert Mulder of Delton, MI and Kathy and Jan Hartley of Cleveland; sons: Danny Ash of Englewood, Robert Ash of AK, Roger Dale Williams and Ronnie Williams of Sweetwater; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one special granddaughter, Jade Hartley of Cleveland; sisters: Mary Lou Shell and niece, Linda Shell of Etowah, Evelyn Poteet and husband, Ben of Delano and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
