Arnold Ray Shults, 91, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Hospice Chattanooga Care Center. He was born on March 8, 1933, in Cleveland. He was in the Army stationed in Okinawa Japan. Arnold was employed by the United States Postal service for over 40 years and a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland for over 50 years and serviced as an usher and on the Camp Cherokee committee. He enjoyed camping in the early days at Camp Cherokee (Parksville) with friends Ray and Joan Baker. He enjoyed the Roam and Roost Camping Club and traveled with their special friends Sam and Virginia Bledsoe and Paul and Elsie Kirksey. He loved and was devoted to his family. His pride and joy was his grandson Matthew and great grandchildren Anna Mae and Jackson.
He is preceded in death by his parents McKinley and Clara Shults; his wife, Jo Shults; brothers, RL Shults and Willis “Fat” Shults; sisters n law, Ina Shults, Audrey Shults; brother n law, Mike Keefe.
Survived by daughter, Jeanette Connolly (Mike); grandson, Matthew Freytag (Kellie); great grandchildren, Anna Mae and Jackson; sister, Bernice Keffe, brother, Mack Shults; sisters n law, Dallie Wyatt, Loretta Wyatt, Marie Shults; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, with Pastor Kyle Clayton.
Visitation to be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Poole Funeral Home at Fike Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donation be made to Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga at 2030 Hamilton Place, Suite 220, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
