Ben Saunders Moore, 91, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee and LaBelle, Florida passed away Monday, October 4, 2021. He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. Mr. Moore was born October 15, 1929 to the late Joe S. and Mary Callaway Moore in Cleveland, TN
He graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1947 where he played center on the football team. He graduated from the University Of Tennessee College Of Pharmacy in 1950 and owned and operated pharmacies in Cleveland with his father Joe S. Moore. He was president of the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy in 1968.
He built Bradley Medical Center in 1960 and the Cleveland Mall in 1971, the Wal-Mart-Bi-Lo Center on north Keith Street in 1980 and the Towne Center on Paul Huff Parkway in 2008 as well as other developments. He was a farmer in Tennessee and Florida for 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary White Moore; his mother and father, Mary Callaway Moore and Joe S. Moore.
He is survived by his sons: Ben Saunders Moore, Jr. and wife, Jo Horner Moore of Naples, Florida and Joe Moore and wife, Janie Siegrist Moore of Cleveland; grandchildren: Mellissa Rhoads and husband, Tim, Ben S. Moore, III, and Samantha Rogers, all of Naples, Florida, Amanda Moore Esplin and husband Jason, and Sarah Jo Moore-Chappell and husband, Mikey all of Salt Lake City, Utah and Dan Moore and wife Sarah E. Moore, of Cleveland; great-grandchildren: Justin and Brittany Merrell, John Webb Garrett, and Ben S. Moore, IV all of Naples, Florida, Connor Moore and Ben D. Moore of Cleveland, Mary Grace Esplin and Joe Henry Esplin, and Amanda Moxley Moore all of Salt Lake City, Utah.
A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2021 in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Pastor Skip White officiating. Tom Cate, Curt Horner, Alvin Calhoun, Richard Banks, Larry Hooper, Ben Land, Aon Miller, and Erwin Lowe will serve as pallbearers. Senator Bob Corker, Max Morris, Floyd Crain, Dottie Bryant, Carson Shahan, J.T. Haun, George McCoin, Judge Barrett Painter, Eddie Cartwright, Ben Callaway, Mike Callaway, Ted England, Johnny Holden, Knox Horner, Brenda Lawson, and Dr. Sam Horner, IV will serve as honorary pallbearers.
