Betty J. Ownbey Ballard

Betty J. Ownbey Ballard, 91, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 at her home.  She was a 1948 graduate of Bradley High School.  Betty was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church.  She loved cooking, being with her family and friends and spending past summers at Parksville Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Ballard, Sr.; parents, Frank and Sula Dempsey Ownbey; maternal grandparents, B. & Rosa Dempsey; paternal grandparents, William A. and Carrie Ownbey; and sisters, Esther Still and Nancy Chastain.

Survivors include her son, Harold “Eddie” Ballard, Jr. and wife, Mary; sister, Frankie Wolgamott; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Ridgeview Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Purdie and Pastor Stephen Wolgamott officiating.  The interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Dave Brittain, Jeff Davis, Steve Coleman, Bill Chastain, Sean Brittain and Lee Wolgamott serving as pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be sent to Ridgeview Baptist Church, 1501 S. Ocoee Street, Cleveland TN 37311.
