Betty Jean Hyde, 95, a resident of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at a local healthcare facility. She was a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she loved singing in the choir. She was a 1946 graduate of Bradley Central High School. Betty worked as office manager and bookkeeper for several local businesses throughout her career. Betty loved playing golf, camping, reading and spending time with family and her friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charles Hyde; her parents Levi and Cleo Randolph Hicks; three brothers, Roy M. Hicks, Clyde Hicks and James Hicks, who lost his life while serving during World War II; three sisters, Wilma Hicks, Helen Hicks and Bonnie Lawson.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son in law, Cindy and Raymond Smith; grandson, Matt Smith; sister in law Myrt Hyde; niece Terri Ricketts (Ron) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at Poole Funeral Home, located at 3000 Ralph Buckner Blvd, Cleveland TN, 37311.
Services to celebrate the life of Betty Jean Hyde will be on Friday, May 11, at 11:00 A.M., from the chapel of the Poole Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Caywood officiating. Internment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. Poole Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Cleveland are in charge of all arrangements.
