Calvin C. Davis, 94, of Cleveland passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 in an Etowah healthcare facility. Calvin attended McMinn County High School and the The National School of Business. He moved to Cleveland in 1947 after serving in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Philippines.
Calvin worked for 14 years at Hardwick Stove as a mounter on the assembly line before joining the Cleveland Police Department in 1961 where he served for 30 years. At the time of his retirement in 1991 he was a lieutenant and had received many honors and accommodations. After his retirement he partnered with his brother, Charles in the cattle business and greatly enjoyed working on his farm. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George T. and Elsie L. Partain Davis; grandson, James Christopher Davis; brothers, Charles Davis and Curtis Davis; and sister, Mazelle Davis Long.
Survivors include his son, Jamie Davis of Cleveland; daughter, Robin Meiers and husband, Ken of Wilmington, NC; granddaughter, Sarah Beth Meiers, of Columbia, NC; sister, Norma Davis Coppinger of Cleveland; special niece, Pat Long Meagher, of Cleveland; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Able of First Baptist Church of Cleveland officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Cleveland Police Department Honor Guard serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with military honors.
His family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Cleveland, 1275 Stuart Road NE, Cleveland, TN 37312 or to The Cleveland 100, who honors first responders in Cleveland and Bradley County.
