Damon Lee Shahan, 82, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on April 16, 2023 in Ellijay, GA.
Damon was born in Meigs County, Tennessee, and graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1958.
He moved to Atlanta in 1970 and worked for General Motors until he retired in 2000. He was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union.
After retirement, he enjoyed having breakfast and lunch with his friends and going to car shows with his brother. Most of all he loved visiting his grandchildren, traveling to see them in Atlanta, New York, New Orleans, Palo Alto and even as far as Rome and Costa Rica.
Damon was preceded in death by his father, Carl Shahan, and mother, Ruth Hindman Shahan.
He is survived by his three children: Amanda Mullis (Jimmy) of Fayetteville, GA; Amy Shahan Parigi of Palo Alto, CA; and Andrew Shahan (Isa) of Atlanta, GA; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Irene Shahan; seven grandchildren: Giada Parigi, Sara Mullis, Elsie Parigi, Anna Mullis, Lucy Shahan, Damon Shahan, and Maria Shahan; his niece, Donna Symonds; his nephew, Leon Shahan; and the mother of his children and care-giver in his final days, Dianne Hammond.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Fike Randolph & Son Funeral Home of Cleveland.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Saturday in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, 7619 Blue Springs Rd.
