Don W. Stafford, Sr. 79, lifelong resident of Cleveland gained his heavenly wings Wednesday, June 23, 2021. He attended Polk County High School and Electrical School in Atlanta, GA. He worked for Georgia Baptist Hospital while attending secondary school. He became affiliated with Pipe Liner Local Union 798 where he was an electrician for 54 years and was a Master of his trade. He was affectionally known by his friends as “Kilowatt”. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Tabernacle.
Don was a hardworking, generous, loving, and kind Christian man, loved by all who knew him. He dearly loved his family, generators, Pipeline Union 798, John Deere tractors, fishing and racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Edith Brackett Stafford; grand father, Frank Stafford; brothers, Dennis Stafford and Johnny Stafford; and grandson-in-law, Steven Rodriguez.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 60 years, Johnnie Green Stafford of Cleveland; son, Donnie (Angela) Stafford; daughters: Lynn Stafford (Jimmy) Bradford, and Chandra “Pup” Stafford (Michael) Gatlin all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Cassie Rodriguez of Old Fort, Trey Stone of Benton, Jonathan Poteet of Signal Mountain, Autumn “BB” Poteet of Cleveland, Brae “Main Man” Stafford, Chandler Stafford and his fiancé’ Marissa Roberson, and Chandon “Boy” Gatlin; great grandchildren: Savannah Rodriguez, Casslynn Rodriguez, Skyla Scriven, Carson Poteet, Andrew Poteet, Hudson Poteet, Aleyah Grace Stone, and Andrew Stone; sisters: Ann Stafford (Danny) Biggs, and Jeanette Stafford Kinley; and special sister-in-law, Billie McCracken.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2021 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Jimmy Parm, the Reverend Ronnie Pearson, and the Reverend Charlie Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Chestuee Methodist Church Cemetery with Brae Stafford, Chandler Stafford, Jonathan Poteet, Chandon Gatlin, Bobby Mitchum, Robert Pugh, and John Wilson serving as pallbearers. Carl Keasler and Gabriel West will serve as honorary pallbearers. The service will conclude with the playing of bagpipes and a white dove release ceremony.
His family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
