Edith Fraker Simpson, 102, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at her residence in Athens, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doc & Laura Belle Fraker, her husband, Don Carlos Simpson Sr., daughter, Carol Elizabeth Simpson, her son, William Simpson, sons-in-law, Jack Yarber & Bill Broach, daughter and son-in-law, Mike & Linda Sample, granddaughters, Shirley Iles & Anita Sample, great-granddaughter, Olivia Sample and great-grandson, Adam Yarber. She was one of eight children.
Survivors include Von & Margaret Simpson (Hixson, TN), Teri Simpson (Cumming, GA), Donna Broach (Florence, SC), Patsy Yarber (Clinton, TN), Dwight & Donna Simpson (Sevierville, TN), John & Marilu Simpson (Tucson, AZ), Joyce Simpson (Athens, TN), Don & Diane Simpson (Chester, SC), James & Rikki Simpson (Taylorsville, GA), Charles & Lynn Simpson (Astoria, NY), Bertie & Rick Terwilliger (Flower Mound, TX). She leaves her 31 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren to cherish her memory and legacy.
Edith was originally from Hickory Valley, TN; Anderson County. She was Valedictorian of Norris High School, class of 1937. She was of the Baptist faith and a member at Cleveland Christian Church in Cleveland, TN. She was a proud graduate of Cleveland State Community College at the age of 75. She loved her family and friends, and was loved by everyone whom she met. She shared God’s love by quilting and cooking. She spent her life taking care of her family and friends. She loved reciting poems from her childhood and reading. Eleven of her children were either in the military or married someone in the military.

The funeral will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Simpson officiating. Interment will be held Friday, June 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the funeral home prior to the service.
