Edward Marvin Sneed, 89, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2020 at his home. He was retired from Bowater after 30 plus years and was of Baptist faith. He was an accomplished musician and avid Blue Grass fan, having played and sang for 75 years. He was well known in local Blue Grass circles and played the mandolin for several regional groups.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Sue Sneed and son, David Sneed.
He is survived by his children, Phoebe Stepp and husband, Joe, Sherry Maples and husband, Larry, Cindy McCoy and husband, Mike, Garth Sneed and wife, Jean and Jennifer Castello and husband, Tom, all of Cleveland; several grandchildren, including a special grandson, Naval Lieutenant Commander Cody Gates and special “like a son”, Mark Long.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Kemper officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
