Daughter of Foster and Maggie Smith of Waycross, Georgia. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Crews, her brother Oliver Smith, and her son Philip Crews. She is survived by her siblings: Elouise Pritchett, Ruth Hilton, Foster Smith (Betty), and Nena Harvey (Herman); 3 children: Phyllis Smith (RO), Ronald Crews, and Dennis Crews (Doris). She leaves behind nine grandchildren: Lisa Crews, Sandy Payne (Ben), Seth Crews, Jake Crews (Chase), Rachel Boals, Bryson Crews (Amber), and Sarah Crews-Rogers, Simon Bean (Sherry); 4 grands-in-love, Laura Bean, Nash Bean, Kim Cherry, and Allison McCreary. She also leaves 31 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren, and a host of friends and others who she loved deeply.
Frances enjoyed a successful career in Physical Therapy and was an active member of her community and church. She was an artist who blessed many with her paintings. Her home and her heart were always open. She was known for supporting friends and family in failing health or in need of other assistance including allowing multiple family member to live with her through challenging periods in their lives. She gave of herself and of her means to support her family, church, and community. She was a true Christian in the best sense of the word.
She was attended by Hearth Hospice and received special love and care from Laura Bean, Sherry Bean, Todd Stansberry and Jackie Walker during the final months of her life.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Poole Funeral Home, Fike Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel. Rev. Phillip Looney will be officiating. Special music will be provided by Rev. Foster Bell and JoAnne Wilson. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
