Jacob C. "Sleepy" Higgins, Jr.

Jacob C. “Sleepy” Higgins, Jr., 73, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, May 25, 2020 at a Chattanooga healthcare facility.  He retired from Bowater after 20 years and Magic Chef/Maytag after 25 years.  “Sleepy” was a member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church.  His favorite pastime was riding his Harley with his wife and buddies from Bowater, until his illness.  He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob C. Higgins, Sr. and Gladys Vest Higgins and brother, Terry Higgins.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda Randolph Higgins; sons, Jacob C. Higgins III and wife, Robin of Old Fort and Mikel B. Higgins of Cleveland; sister, Kathleen Maples of Cleveland; brothers, Fred (Jan) Higgins of Cleveland and Tom (Ruth) Higgins and Mark Higgins, all of Old Fort; and one niece and one nephew.

The funeral will be at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Cloverleaf Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Corbin officiating.  Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery. 

His family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church prior to the service.
