James R. Forgey

Reverend James R. Forgey, 92, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 in a local healthcare facility. He was a devoted husband to Gladys and father to Sherry Gail Forgey. He was in the Church of God Ministry for over 60 years. He began his ministry at Pine Hill Church of God and last pastored at Spring Creek Church of God in East Ridge. His ministry impacted thousands of lives; he was dedicated to sharing the gospel with others and over the years led hundreds of people to the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Gladys Douglas Forgey; daughter, Sherry Gail Forgey ; parents, Ida and Ambers Forgey; parents-in-law, Ella and John H. Douglas; four brothers, Lake Forgey, Clyde Forgey, Reverend Charles Forgey, and Donald Forgey;  one sister Dorothy Brewer Holder; six brothers-in-law: Paul Brewer, Luther Holder, Tommy Barnhart, Bill Carroll, Don Alley, and John Paul Douglas; and sisters-in-law: Opal Forgey, Retha Forgey, Billie Forgey, Margie Forgey, Wanda Forgey, Easter Barnhart, Ruth Carroll, and Ethelle Douglas.

Survivors include his brother, Reverend Leroy Forgey and sister-in-law, Agnes Forgey; sister-in-law, Betty Douglas Alley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Fort Hill Cemetery with Pastor Mark Williams and the Reverend Leroy Forgey officiating. His nephews will serve as pallbearers. For those wishing to go in the funeral procession, we will be leaving Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m.
