James Richard Goins

James Richard Goins, 77, a lifelong resident of Bradley County passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021. He was born January 30, 1944 to the late Elmer Goins Jr. and Ruth Ensley Goins. After serving in the military with the United States Navy, he returned to Cleveland and worked at BellSouth/AT&T as a lineman and mechanic until his retirement. He also successfully owned and operated a speed shop and auto repair service. Active in the Cleveland community, he was an involved member and deacon at North Cleveland Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Carolyn Goins Rigg.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Carolyn Lacy Goins; son, Mark R. Goins and his wife, Glenda McPeake Goins and granddaughter, Sarah Bennett Goins of Ringgold, GA; daughter, Lacy Goins Paschal and grandson, Hayden Samuel Paschal of Nashville, TN; brothers, David Goins (Jacque), Steve Goins (Jeanne) and Robert Goins; brother-in-law, Larry Rigg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in the sanctuary at North Cleveland Baptist Church with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating.  The service will be live streamed for those wishing to attend virtually and can be found at www.northclevelandbaptist.org.

His family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

A private graveside service for family will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the Cedar Springs Cemetery with Ronnie Ball, John Foy, Joel Cox, Mike Baines, Dave Olsen, and Josh Chesley serving as pallbearers. The deacons of North Cleveland Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
