James Lewis

James Edward “Edd” Lewis, 90, passed away, on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. He was born in Meigs County, Tennessee, on August 12, 1933, son of Spencer and Glenn Lewis. Edd worked for TVA in Combustion Engineering, and for the Bradley County Road Department, where he was a superintendent for 15 years.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, MaryRuth Brown, Bob, Joe, Sam Lewis, Frances Roberts; and wife, Betty Lewis

He was survived by his wife Penny Lewis; son, Michael (Liza); stepsons, Joe (Brenda) Burns III, John (Natalie) Burns; grandchildren, Victoria and Charlee Emma Lewis, Reid Burns, Grant (Zena) Steele, Ashley (Reci) Austin; great-grandchildren, Parker and Isla Austin, Lana and Keira Steele; several nieces and nephews; also, grand dogs, Sugar and Cookie. 

He enjoyed going to Auctions, casinos, spending time with his grandchildren, and going to his cabin in Cottonport.

Ed was a member of the Cleveland Lodge #134 F&AM, fifty-year member of Alhambra Shrine, Elks Club #1944, Intl. Union of Operating Engineers Local #917, supporter of the Boys and Girls Club, The Old Fort Liars Club, Meigs Co. Historical Society, the 10th Judicial District Community Program, Bradley County Constable, and St. Therese Catholic Church.

Pallbearers include Steve Hixson, Joe Lee, Reid Burns, Lee Stafford, Alan Humburd, and Don Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Hall, Bebo Harris, Gene Officier, Jerry Ward, Dean Perkinson, and Dave Bauer.

The funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at St. Therese Catholic Church, at 900 Clingan Ridge DR. NW in Cleveland, Tennessee, with Father Mike Nolan, officiating. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm in the parlor at Fike, Randolph and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Therese Catholic Church.
