Joe T. King, 87, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at his home. Joe was a 1950 graduate of Chattanooga Central High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in the Korean War and was stationed in Guam/Okinawa. Joe was a golden glove boxer and little league and senior league coach in Cleveland for many years. He retired from Bellsouth after 35 years of service and was a member of Eastside Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty King; daughter, Kim Richardson; parents, Albert and Edna King and siblings, Gilbert King, Jewel Talley and Gene King.
He is survived by his children, Kay Stemen (Kim), Larry King (Victoria), Patti Crick, (Roger) and son-in-law, Steve Richardson; grandchildren, Jennifer Soellner (Phillip), Kelli Blevins, Courtney Crick, Stacy Flowers (Eric), Renee Crick, Chris Crick (Nicky), Abby Tipton, Lyndsay Sneed (Chase) and Jenna Horn (Josh); great-grandchildren, Emery Arnwine, Eden Flowers, Isla and Nola Soellner, Landon and Grayson Davis, Carolyn and Emily Dwyer and Marie, Jonathan, Mattie, Judah and Josiah Crick, Tyler Choi, River Tipton and Molly, Easton and Eira Blevins; special friend Ann Duggan and siblings, Louise Stitt (Les) and Jim King (Carolyn).
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Eastside Church of Christ with Minister Bill Maynard officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Mike Stitt, Wayne Talley, Gary Talley, Dwight King, Eric Flowers, Chase Sneed and Brandon Bryant serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Tipton, Steve Richardson, Chris Crick and Alex Bryant.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the church.
