Joel Thomas “J.T.” Moore, Sr., 88, of Dalton, GA and a former resident of Cleveland passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. During the 1950’s he was a businessman in Cleveland and was owner/operator of the Sinclair on Inman and the truck stop on Hwy. 60. J.T. worked as a carpenter with McKee Foods for over 15 years. He was a member and deacon at Eastview Church of God of Prophecy
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Jean Hall Moore; parents, Thomas Benton Moore and Thanny Belle Brown Moore; brother, Luke Moore; son, Jeffery Brian Moore, Sr.; and daughter, Alorra DeOnne Moore.
Survivors include his children, Joel T. Moore, Jr. of Cleveland and Shanna Moore Hunderup and husband, Pete of Delaware; 6 grandchildren, Joel T. (Gwendolyn) Moore III of Chatsworth, GA, Jeffery Brian Moore, Jr. of Cleveland, Aaron Lee (Candy) Moore, George Arellano, Robert (Nancy) Arellano, all of Chattanooga, and Nicholas (Hannah) Arellano, of Camp LeJeune, NC; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great -great grandchildren.
The service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Herman Parker officiating. The interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
His family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
