John Wayne Mull

October 12, 1936 — December 9, 2019

John Wayne “PaPaw” Mull, 83, of Cleveland passed away peacefully Monday, December 9, 2019, surrounded by his family following a short illness. He was born in McMinn County but moved to Bradley County as a child. He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School and member of First Baptist Church.  He was also a Master Mason.  Wayne was a great lover of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching and feeding the birds and driving through the mountains.  He was a well know electrician in Bradley County for over 60 years and was retired from Olin Chemicals.  He enjoyed learning about Bradley County and Tennessee History, working with his hands and making wind-chimes and inventing electrical devices.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Margie Burnette Mull; parents, Rev. John A. and Hazel Payne Mull; siblings, Betty Mull Denton, Phyllis Mull and Doyal W. Mull; sister-in-law, Margaret Burnette Newman; brothers-in-law, Dusty Newman, John Ward and Bobby Goins and nephew, Mark Ward.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kellye Mull and Stephanie Riddle of Cleveland; siblings, Pearl Mull Goins and Arthur Mull, of Cleveland; sister-in-law,  Elaine Ward, of Cleveland; brother-in-law, Paul Denton, of Cleveland; nieces and nephews, Ruth Ann Hall of Cleveland, Anita Newman Droke (Ernie) of Delano, David Ward of Cleveland, Tina Nelson of Athens, Sandra Mull of Cleveland and Sherian Smith (Bobby) of Cleveland, David Goins (Rebecca) of Cleveland, Joseph Denton (Holly) of Rome, GA, John Denton (Jeanna) of California, Arthur “Bud” Mull (Vickey) of Jefferson City, Scott Mull of Knoxville.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with David Goins, Keith Colloms, Robbie Hindman, Brian Bain, Jeff Sneed and Joe Meagher serving as pallbearers.

A gathering of friends will be held from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to, Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
