Lowell Burkhart, 78, passed away Saturday morning, September 5, 2020 at his residence. He was employed by Roadway Express for 30 years. He was a member of North Cleveland Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years. He coached youth baseball, football, and basketball. He especially loved fishing. He was a wonderful husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Joan Burkhart; brothers Elize Burkhart, Richard Burkhart, and Tom Burkhart
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Carolyn Burkhart; sons Marty (Julie) Burkhart and Todd (Lisa) Burkhart; grandchildren Kaden Burkhart, Adian Cook, and Jolisa Cook; great grandson Alex Gibson; sisters Syvilla Ridge of Florida and Marie Egan of California; special friends J.C and Ann Wells of Knoxville and Janice Brantley of Cleveland. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr James Knabb.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating. Interment will follow, Thursday, September 10, 2020 in Calhoun Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 am. The men’s Sunday school class at North Cleveland Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
His family will receive friends Wednesday September 9, 2020 from 4:00om-7:00pm at the funeral home, prior to the service.
The family request in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to North Cleveland Baptist Church at 2815 North Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN 37312 and/or the American Cancer Society at 651 E. 4th St. Suite 200 Chattanooga, TN 37403.
