Merlene L. Chase

Merlene L. Chase, 90, of Charleston passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 at her home. She was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. Mrs. Chase came from Lufkin, Texas in 1954, and was an avid gardener and Barbie collector. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorey and Clara Lazarine; husband, Jack Chase; and sisters, Alice Lovett, Mavis Rodriguez, Earlene Stubblefield, and Dorothy Clark. Survivors include her children, Ron and Joyce Chase of Biloxi, Mississippi, Donald and Lisa Chase of Georgetown, and Carrie and Allen Martin of Charleston; eleven grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Inurnment will be held in the Columbarium at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
