Patricia “Faye” Pickering Nolen, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 29, 2020. She passed peacefully surrounded by the family she loved. She was born December 3, 1942 in Marietta, GA to Joseph Gilbert “Gib” and Mable Gordy Pickering. She trusted the Lord as her personal Savior, under the preaching of Brother Clarence Miller, at a Brush Arbor meeting in Cleveland, TN in 1954. She was later baptized by the Reverend Lester Lewis at Waterville Baptist Church. She married Frank K. Nolen on August 10, 1963. He announced his call to preach on February 9, 1964 and she became a preacher’s wife, for which she had prayed as a young girl. She and Frank served as Pastor and wife for well over 50 years. She was an active member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, cook, flower gardener, and seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother J.G. (June) Pickering, her aunts Thelma and Minnie Bell Jay, who raised her, a grandson Jeff Lee Townsend, and granddaughter Josie Townsend, and step-mother, Vivian Pickering.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 57 years, Frank K. Nolen; daughters Laura Faye Townsend and husband Michael of Greer, SC; Laverne Marie and husband Dr. James Robinson of Cleveland; grandchildren Starla, Crystal, Seth, Courtney, and Silas Townsend of Greer, SC; adopted grandchildren Eudora Anders, Charity Carter, Candace Voyles, Tori Ledbetter, and siblings. She is also survived by her sister Carol Pickering Jeanes (Bob) of Acworth, GA, nephew Mike (Kim) Pickering of Woodstock, GA, and niece Susan (Mike) Micevych of St. Paul, Minnesota, special brother-in-law Bill Nolen, who assisted in her care. She has many family and friends that she loved.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 5:00pm in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home, with Marvin Carr, her pastor, James Langston, Michael Townsend, and Ronnie Jones officiating. Interment will be Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Camp Ground Cemetery in Overton County, TN at 11:00am (CST)/12:00 pm (EST). Mike Pickering, Joshua West, Gary Nolen, Gary Wayne Nolen, Stan Hamby, Charles Frank, and Steven Jones will serve as pallbearers, serving as honorary pallbearers are Ronald Burch, Mike Nolen, David Nolen, Duane Hamby, Melvin Gregg, and Bill Nolen.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at the funeral home, prior to the service.
