On Friday, September 27, 2019, Pauline Dixon Kirkpatrick left her large and much loved “family-on-earth” to experience her faith becoming sight and to reunite with her “family-in-heaven”. Hers was without question an incredibly full and well-lived life with an endless legacy.
Pauline attended Lebanon Baptist Church her entire life. She began serving as church pianist at age 14 in the year 1945. A self-taught, “play by ear” pianist and organist, she served her church in that role for the remainder of her life of 89 years. She was also an avid student of the Bible, reading it through at least 21 times.
Pauline was married to John Vida Kirkpatrick for nearly 60 years. They established their home in the Oak Grove community and filled it with five children, as well as numerous beloved pets. After raising her own children, she kept influencing children, becoming a substitute teacher and kindergarten aide at Oak Grove Elementary.
A woman of considerable multi-talents, Pauline was an excellent cook, seamstress, artist, and “jack of all trades”. She loved books, animals, gardening, and her ever increasing family. As the cornerstone of the family her quick wit and spunky spirit kept family gatherings and conversation lively.
Pauline Dixon Kirkpatrick was preceded in death by her parents, Bascom Thomas and Martha Adeline Ellave Stanley Dixon; four brothers, B.T., C.L., Forrest, and Wayne Dixon; and sister, Faustine Dixon Guthrie. Also welcoming her to Heaven was her husband, John Vida Kirkpatrick, and their sons, Tom, Steve, and Jeff Kirkpatrick as well as their granddaughter, Shela Kirkpatrick.
She will be missed by two daughters, Kathy (Wallace) Lovelace and Kim (Rex) Calfee. She was also a much loved “Nana” to 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Surviving also are two sisters-in-law, Lucille Dixon and Adah Dixon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Lebanon Baptist Church with Pastors Adam Hardin and Judson Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery with Chad Kirkpatrick, Adam Kirkpatrick, Logan Kirkpatrick, Ryan Lovelace, Corey Lovelace, and Timmy Horick serving as pallbearers. Alan Dixon will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Her family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
The family requests that donations be made to the Life Center Building Project at Lebanon Baptist Church in memory of Pauline.
