Peggy Harmon McLain, 85, a life-long resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 at her home. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and also attended Community Hall Church. She was a member of the Prospect Home Demonstration Club and enjoyed cooking. Peggy was affectionately known as Granny and she loved sharing her home cooked meals with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale Allen McLain, parents, Jarve L. Harmon, Sr. and Mary Montana “Monty” Harmon and siblings, P.J. Harmon, Louise Ragsdale, Wallace Harmon, Frances Harmon, Melba Geren, Wilburn Harmon, Willard Harmon, Jarve Harmon, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Cindy McLain Roberts, husband, James and Jan Cooke McSpadden, all of Cleveland; five grand-children, Natalie Kellum (Darin) of Glenwood Springs, CO, William “Rusty” Cooke (Jodi) of Cleveland, Candice Strain (Chris) of Cleveland, James “Mac” Roberts (Allie) of Oxnard, CA, Ben Roberts (Jennifer) of Chattanooga; seven great-grandchildren; Tori Beth Cooke, Coleman Strain, Emmagail Kellum, Ethan Strain, Cameron Parus, Samuel Roberts and Michael Roberts; special niece and friend, Charlotte Geren Casteel, special sisters-in-love, Betty Baumgardner, Ruby Evans, Doris Hooper, and Edith Hathcock, several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Jeannie Cissom officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
