Phillip “Phil” Dale McAlister, age 68, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. Phil retired as a district manager from WalMart where he worked from 1974 to 2001. He was the founder of Torres McAlister Enterprise, LLC.
Phil was a lifetime Arkansas Razorback fan, an avid fisherman and enjoyed golfing. At church he was on the financial committee and also supported the ministry of ESL (English as a second language). Phil loved spending time with his grandbabies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Alvin Hoid McAlister and Mary Lucille Simmons McAlister.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Torres McAlister of Cleveland; children, Melissa (Michael) Dodson and Stacey (Mike) Dietz, all of Cookeville, Jeremy (Felicia) McAlister and Crystal (Bryan) James, all of Cleveland and James McAlister of Knoxville; grandchildren, Hunter Edwards, Nikki O’Brien, Kadence McAlister, Kelsey McAlister, Kimber McAlister, Evan James and Isaac James.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2021 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Smartt officiating. Interment will follow in Candies Creek Cemetery with Bryan James, Michael Dodson, Mike Dietz, Grayson Birdwell, Pete Coleman and Tom Walker serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Stutz and Tim Hurst.
His family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and on Sunday one hour prior to the service.
