Reverend Frank Knox Nolen

April 8, 1945 — September 19, 2020

Frank Knox Nolen, age 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 19. 2020.  He passed peacefully surrounded by the family he loved.  He was born April 8, 1945 in Cleveland to the late William Buford and Jonnie McDonald Nolen. Frank trusted the Lord as his personal Savior on May 12, 1963 at age 18.

He married Patricia “Faye” Pickering on August 10, 1963.  Frank announced his call to preach on February 9, 1964 and began pastoring in 1965.  He pastored Galilee Baptist Church, Goodwill Baptist Church, Gum Springs Baptist Church and Grace Baptist Church, all in Bradley County.  Frank later pastored Victory Baptist Church in Dayton and his final pastorate was Faith Baptist Church in Cleveland.  He stayed there until he was no longer able to pastor.  He was a loyal member of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church on Spring Place Road and loved his Pastor, Brother Marvin Carr and his wife, Ann.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Nolen; brother; Jim Nolen; sisters, Marie Nichols and Mildred Goins; a grandson, Jeff Lee Townsend; granddaughter, Josie Townsend; sister-in-law, Carol Nolen; and brother and sister-in-law, JG (June) Pickering.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters, Laura Faye Townsend and husband, Michael of Greer, SC and Laverne Marie and husband,  Dr James Robinson of Cleveland; grandchildren, Starla, Crystal, Seth, Courtney and Silas Townsend of Greer, SC; and adopted grandchildren, Eudora Anders, Charity Carter, Candace Voyles, Tori Ledbetter and siblings.  Frank is also survived by brothers, Bruce (Idella) Nolen of Mobile, AL and Bill Nolen and Bob (Faye) Nolen, all of Cleveland; sister, Mary of Cleveland; and many other family and friends that he loved. 

His burial will be a private ceremony at the Camp Ground Church Cemetery in Overton County, TN.  Due to the pandemic there will be no funeral at this time.  The family will have a grand celebration of his life at a later date.
