Sara Grace Melton

Sara Grace Morrow Melton. 84, of Cleveland, went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.  She was born and raised in Riceville on January 14, 1938.  Sara graduated from Calhoun High School in 1956 and was voted “Wittiest” her senior year along with Jack Melton whom she married on April 21, 1957.

She was a bank teller at Calhoun Branch Bank for many years until she retired in 1986.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother (known as “Mamaw Sara”).  Sara deeply loved her four grandchildren and cherished every moment she could spend time with them.  She also enjoyed her church family and Sunday school class at Bellefounte Baptist Church.

Sara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Jack Melton; parents, Sterling and Minnie Womac Morrow; and siblings, Betty Ruth Morrow, W.T. Morrow, Helen Morrow Sliger and Jerry Morrow.

Survivors include her sons, Steve (Donna) Melton and Dennis J. (Diannia) Melton, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Jessica (Stephen) Warner and soon to be great granddaughter, Willow Grace, Clark Melton and fiancé, Brooke Humble, Logan (Holly) Melton, all of Cleveland and Cooper Melton and fiancé, Emily Caylor of Washington DC; brother, Ross (Linda) Morrow of Riceville; and brother-in-law, Raymond Sliger of Riceville.

Her family would like to send a special thank you to her dear friends, DeAnna Inghram and Kelsey Farris for their love and care.

A celebration of Sara’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Bellefounte Baptist Church with Pastor Lake Walker officiating.  The interment will follow in Riceville Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church prior to the service.
