Velma Inez Lawson Suits, 92, a resident of Cleveland passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at her home. Velma loved her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and dancing. Velma was employed with Woolworth, Peerless Woolen Mill, Lays 5&10 at Five Point, and Schering and Plough, retiring at the age of 69.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Terrell Suits, Sr.; parents, Ernest and Allie Lawson; and brothers, Earl Lawson, Stanley Lawson, Hoyt Lawson, and Eugene Lawson.
She is survived by her son, Ellis Suits, Jr. and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Angela Bradford ( Tiffany) Richards, Marquetta (Matt) Whalbring, Sarah (Tim) Kennedy, Kenny (Jennifer Bailey) Jones, Chad Smith and Chris (Blair) Smith; the mother of Angela and Marquetta, Janice (George) Bickert; great grandchildren, Todd (Ayla Carpenter) Bradford, AnaLyssa Bradford, Hannah Poteet, Corbin Poteet (US Navy), Adam Poteet (US Air Force), Draven Whalbring, Jacob Patterson and Summer Kennedy; several great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Beverly) Lawson, brother-in-law, Charles (Mary Jo) Suits; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Pastor David West officiating.
A special thank you to Angela for tirelessly care of Velma and for making sure she was okay and remained in her home and to Marquetta for all of the medical knowledge that we always needed. Thanks also to Bob and Joyce Dancler for taking Velma and Ellis, Sr. to the senior dance in the final years of their life and to her caregivers who took such great care of her, Kelly Stokes, Amy Moses and Tiffany Richards.
